The ATS can be installed from the install menu. ATS require about
3MB of hard disk space.
ATS can provide adaptive or non adaptive tests from each of the six
units. The questions in the non
adaptive tests are randomly generated while the questions in the
adaptive version are based on
student responses. For example, students who continue to do well in
a test will get harder and more
challenging problems while student who are not performing well will
usually get problems that are
suitable for their skill level. This may give an accurate measure
of student performance.
Instructors who may wish to use the ATS system to maintain
students' records may do so by
choosing the File Path and choosing a file name with the
extension *.std from the Instructor's
Package. The instructor must take a sample test. Then the file
will be created and students will be
able to write into the file. Unless students have the write
privileges to this file in a network
environment, instructors must create this file in each PC.
The instructor's package can only be accessed by the instructor
using a password.
The original password is bgd and can be reset from the
instructor's package.
CAUTION: EXITING ATS FROM THE WINDOW'S CLOSE MENU WILL LEAVE ATS AS
AN ACTIVE TASK. SHOULD
THAT HAPPEN, PRESS CTRL-ALT-ESC KEYS AT THE SAME TIME TO DISPLAY THE
ACTIVE TASKS AND
MANUALLY END TASK. HOWEVER, IF YOU EXIT ATS FROM ITS MENU, THIS WILL
NOT OCCUR.
