The electronic text includes the following components: Lessons; Labs; Applications; Theory; Automated Linear Algebra Function; and an Adaptive Testing System.

• Instructors should educate the students about this new mode of instruction. The time factor needed to complete the activities.

• Instructors together with the students should, in the very first meeting, go over the part " Ilat and MapleV" . This can be selected from the main menu or from any of the unit screens of the electronic text. This will familiarize the students with the system.

• Instructor may use the lessons to explain and discuss the main concepts, ideas and algorithms. Students need to go over the lessons, some selected exercises and the short quiz at the end. The lessons include a variety of examples but students should be encouraged to create their own examples. It helps them build their confidence and level of competency.

• Instructors should a priori select few facts and ask students to go over the proofs of these facts.

• After the completion of the lessons of a unit, the instructor may, depending upon the students' background and preparation, choose one of the following group activities (2 students per team) options:
  
  1. Lab activities - Six labs for the semester (one lab per unit)
  2. Applications - Six Applications for the semester (one project per unit)
  3. Labs and Applications - Four Labs and Two projects

• An estimate time table to cover the material based on one semester three hours per week and using the Lab activities option:

• Instructors encourage students to go over the Automated Functions especially the demonstration mode of these functions. Let the students explore with their own examples.

• The Instructors may use the Adaptive Testing System use the existing tests or modify the questions and use it to test and keep a record of the students. Instructions of how to use the Adaptive Testing System are included into the CD-ROM.
  Suggestions for the Students
  1. This is a computer based course that requires a bit more of time

     management than other courses that you have already taken.

  2. Learn how to work with the system by first going over the part "Ilat and MapleV" which you may select from the main screen or any of the units screens.

  3. Learn how to use the automated linear algebra functions. Choose from the main menu the Automated Functions button and select one of the functions to experiment with.

  4. Go over the lessons, create you own examples, solve exercises (solutions are provided) and attempt the quiz at the end of each lesson. If you need to keep an a copy of the executed worksheet for later reference, then you may print the executed worksheet. It is very important that you also work with the demonstration mode of the automated functions and try as many examples you deem necessary to master the underlying concept or algorithm.
